The Nightmare Syndrome: Things Long Dead
Published in Paperback by Writers Club Press (October, 2001)
Author: David Nelson
Average review score:

Read this book
The Nightmare Syndrome was the first thouroughly chilling book I've read in a long time. I look forward to the sequels, and I'd recommend Things Long Dead to anyone who feels bored with typical horror writing. The stories are complex and intruigingly intertwined, it was hard to stop reading.

Explosive Stories that blow your mind
I couldn't put this book down. The stories were woven together with thick detail. The stories presented in this book blew my mind. They are very detailed!!!
Highly Recommend!

Official Flying Rhinoceros How to Draw Cartoons Survival Kit
Published in Paperback by Walter Foster Pub (January, 1997)
Authors: Raymond D. Nelson, Douglas Kelly, and Ben Adams
Average review score:

A very great cartooning kit!
This book set is perfect for any cartoonist, from 1 to 99. It gives easy-to-follow directions, and many examples. I got this when I was 10, and it impacted my drawing skills a whole lot! This is worth the money you pay for it.

A great way to interest a budding young illustrator.
In his own words, my 7 year old "LOVES drawing cartoons. I tried to draw before I got the kit but I love to do it all the time now that I have the kit. It's the bestest book I ever had." His illustrations are detailed and professional, and he has the confidence to draw on his own and create new stories.

One Step Behind Mandela: The Story of Rory Steyn, Nelson Mandela's Chief Bodyguard
Published in Paperback by New Holland/Struik (March, 1901)
Authors: Rory Steyn and Debora Patta
Average review score:

Mandatory reading for leaders, including public officials!
Thanks to Steyn we get a closer look at one of the most fascinating persons in modern history. Nelson Mandela demonstrates most convincingly that integrity and respect for fellow human beings of all levels is not a sign of weakness but rather the ultimate demonstration of greatness. This book ought to be mandatory reading for every person in a leading position, be it in the political or any other field. Thus, let us hope that it becomes more readily available outside of South Africa!

One Step Behind Mandela
An excellent book! This book was very well written and contained in depth information about executive and personal protection that few people have the intimate knowledge to find out about. I was especially drawn to the special relationship that formed between Mr. Steyn & his protectee, President Nelson Mandela. This book also contained some very humerous passages, such as the incident where the driver for Mr. Mandala's principal car accidently locked the keys in the car, with the president's helicopter inbound a due to land in a few minutes! I would recommend this book to any protection specialist in the field and others alike.

Painting Flowers A to Z With Sherry C. Nelson Mda
Published in Paperback by North Light Books (January, 2003)
Authors: Sherry C. Nelson and Sue Pruett
Average review score:

Great painting book...
I haven't painted for years but this book was just great to get me started again. The author has great pictures showing step by step how to hold the paint brush and do blending and shading. Her instructions are clear and concise and she demonstrates a great variety of flowers, even a bubble bee. I am using this book to learn how to paint with acrylics even though her instructions are for oil. I'd recommend this book to a beginner or an experienced painter. A great reference book also.

I liked it!
This book is a pleasure to look at. It has 50 step by step examples of flowers. I don't work in oils but I can easily apply the use of other mediums from the examples in this book. Usually I'm very disappointed in these step-by-step books but this time I was pleasantly surprised.

Plant Dreaming Deep
Published in Paperback by W.W. Norton & Company (September, 1996)
Author: May Sarton
Average review score:

In Search of Home
This is Sarton's story of her quest for a home that will provide her with physical shelter and the space, solitude, and spiritual sustenance she requires to write. It is also the story of her search to bring all the various parts of her past - her parents and their European roots, precious physical keepsakes, and the spirits of those who had touched her life deeply - together under one roof.

Sarton finds what she was looking for in a run down old colonial house in the remote township of Nelson, New Hampshire. There she embarks on renovations and adjustments that profoundly change how she sees and lives her life.

For anyone who is interested in Sarton, Plant Dreaming Deep offers a revealing look at the artist's inner procees. It also allows us to see her in the context of a community. Over the course of time, we are introduced her many and charismatic neighbors. There is Bessie Lyman who lived in Turkey and speaks Arabic, Quig the deepely introspective artist, and Mildred his distinguished wife, Newt who helps her with woodchucks, and Perley who helps her transform her land into a garden. And then there are the people who are not physically present who nevertheless seem as real to Sarton as her next door neighbors. Set against the backdrop of the New England seasons, and defined by the various events and crises that occur in her personal and professional lives, the writing is rich with experience and Sarton's own peculiar blend of poetics and matter-of-fact whimsy. This is a book that any fan of Sarton will enjoy.

quiet, thoughtful, moving
May Sarton is not for everyone, and in this text she goes even deeper into the contemplative stillness that marks her work. She writes beautifully about her life and the living creatures (human, vegetative and otherwise) that fill it. For some strange reason I read this book for the first time as a teenager, and it was a great antidote to the hormone-induced fervor of adolescent life. It actually made me look forward to what life would be like once I got old...

Authors: Nelson Dometrius and Mark Somma
Average review score:

Fascinating and Informative
From now on, all events in my life will be judged by a single reference...Those that occured before I read this book and those that occured after.

A COMPREHENSIVE AND WONDERFUL BOOK !
A fascinating look at the sometimes complicated world of Policy and politics, this book is a must read for all who wish to expand their knowledge in this area. I do not believe that a book as comprehensive or wonderful as this has ever been produced before. Dometrius and Somma are truly at the top of their field.

Precious Moments Bible for Catholics
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (February, 1900)
Authors: Thomas Nelson and Sam Butcher
Average review score:

I bought it for myself, and I'm an adult!!
I was browsing at my local bookstore for a Bible. I wanted a Catholic version with the Deuterocanonicals/Apocrypha and I wanted a Bible that was comfortable to hold, light weight, with a nice comfortable font for easy reading (some Bibles are printed so that you need a magnifying glass, others are so big and heavy you need to take up weightlifting!). This was the only one that fit the bill. I was looking for the NAB version, but am now glad I got this one, which is TEV (Todays English Version). It's a wonderfully fluid translation, not at all stilted like some versions. If you don't mind a pink Bible with cute childrens illustrations, this is a great Bible. It has very nice maps. It comes in a white leatherette version too. Unfortunately, it's not a red-letter edition, and it's not the typical study version with multiple scripture links. But for children that shouldn't matter.

Wonderful Bible for Catholic children to grow with!
Wonderful Bible for Catholic children to grow with! This is a great first full text Bible with footnotes for beginners. Brief introductions with outlines precede each book. The color Precious Moments illustrations call attention to Jesus Love. The Presentation page makes this a great gift with the Record of Sacraments filled out for children to see that their journey has begun.
